Fujifilm Finepix?

I am unable to load the pics from my Fujifilm S5000/Finepix camera.
I have all the necessary software installed, but nothing happens when I connect the AC power adapter connector or a card reader. All that pops up is a prompt stating “It is safe to remove hardware”???
Does it sound like maybe it’s a problem with the USB ports???
Any ideas?

Is the card being regcognized when you have the camera off the adaptor?? Try just plugging the USB cable directly into the computer instead of taking out the card and inserting into the card reader….among my 8 Cameras are 4 Fuji’s, and two of those are a 5200 and a 9100. I have different issues with xD cards,..but overall they are great Cameras and they never fail to show up when thyey are plugged into any of my MACS directly or on a Card Reader….
