Design: Small and sleek, the Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP comes in black, pink and neon green so it is more visible underwater. Measuring in at 3.6 by 2.3 by 0.8 inches the camera is very compact and very light at 4.6 ounces. Featuring an internal lens the whole camera body is airtight with controls needing a little time to get used to. However, once you are used to it, using the camera is a breeze.
Specifications: With a 10MP 1/2.3 inch CCD sensor and a 3x optical zoom with F3.7-4.3 aperture and 35-105mm focal length the Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP is quite powerful for such a small camera. Despite the internal lens, the wider focal length makes taking wide area shots all the easier. With its 2.7-inch color LCD the camera is easy to view and use. However, its 3,648×2,736 pixel JPEG still image resolution and 640×480 at 30fps movie resolution is decidedly basic for such a camera. The camera offers digital image stabilization and can take depths up to 10 feet. The li-ion rechargeable battery can last for 200 shots on a single charge.
Features & Performance: For its price the Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP delivers good performance with ISO sensitivity up to 1600, basic white balance, focus and color effects as well as various recording modes. For the most part automatic modes are the way to go with a fairly intelligent SR Auto option. With a start-up time of 1.8 seconds and a shot-to-shot time of 3.5 seconds the camera is a bit slow but works well as far as most point-and-shoot cameras are concerned.
Image quality is average with softness to most of the photos regardless of ISO. Colors are fairly accurate for still images although movies are VGA quality at best. All in all, the Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP is a good and affordable waterproof digital camera for the pool or beach side. While you can’t take it diving too deep the hardy exterior and easy to use functions guarantee that you’ll catch a photo or movie with ease without having to worry about damaging the camera.
