How do you put pictures from a FujiFilm Finepix Camera onto the computer?
I just got a FujiFinepix camera for Christmas. I took a bunch of pictures and then a plugged the USB cord into the camera and computer and nothing comes up that says the camera is plugged in, but i can hear the sound.
Congratulations on your new camera! My first digital camera was a FujiFinePix, too. You’re going to enjoy it!
Downloading your photos is not hard – once you know how to do it;-) What kind of computer do you have? Mac? Windows? XP? Vista? Most computers have a slot that you can put the FlashCard from the camera into. Does yours? Do Fuji cameras still use xD cards? If you can find the computer’s user’s manual, it would be a help. Look up FlashCard slot. It’s safer to download from the card than from the camera because USB downloading uses a lot of camera battery and if the batteries run down while you’re downloading photos there can be problems. If you’ve been taking a lot of photos, change or charge the batteries before you download from the camera.
You download using a program. Did you install the software that came with your camera? It has the drivers the computer needs to recognize your camera. Do you have any photo editing software like Picasa or Photoshop Elements? If you don’t know, that’s OK, too. I usually recommend Google’s Picasa for photo beginners. It’s free and very easy to use.

Plug in your camera or put the FlashCard in the computer slot, open the photo editing software. (You can open the program first, if you want to, too.) In Picasa, click on the Import button and just follow the instructions. It’s easy. If you’re using the FinePix software, open it and follow directions. Your photos will end up in My Pictures (in Windows XP).
Next, you might think about uploading your photos to a sharing site so family and friends can see them. Since you’re already a member of Yahoo, check out Yahoo’s Flickr. (www.flickr.com) I upload photos and photo class work there. It’s a great, easy to use site.
Don’t worry. It’s difficult right now but once you download photos a few times, it’ll seem easy.
