Fuji Finepix S700?

Thinking of buying a new camera. I’m between an amature and pro. Would like to do some mountain scenes and possible starry nights of New Mexico. I’ve read reviews on Fuji Finepix S700 and they seem pretty good, especially for the money (which is a big factor for me) Any thoughts on this camera?

It is good camera except that it has purple fringing problem which cannot be fully removed even with UV filter but for landscape its good.
